Swallows are migratory birds that indicate the arrival of spring, which is synonymous with the arrival of the courtship season. These birds have a characteristic that sets them apart. They almost always return to the same place where they first made the nest and have only one partner along the way! Therefore, they became a symbol of Love, Family, Loyalty, Home and Loyalty.
Because they have become such an important symbol, their exchange between deeply in love couples quickly became habitual. They are also the meaning of harmony and happiness in the houses where they are hung.
There is also a purchase between these magnificent birds and the Portuguese people. People known for being adventurous, who left home in search of new worlds, but ended up returning home. Just like the swallow, despite being a migratory bird, which explores all corners of the world, once a year, it always returns to its original nest.
